If Country Crossing is Illegal, then why does not the law take the machines out and prosicute those responsible? Because being unchristian is not the same as being illegal. I dont gamble, but it is none of my business is someone else does. I do question who is behind Mr. Gamble and is financing his oppositon to CC. Mr. Gamble is a lawyer. I believe whaever he does, he does for earthly profit. Are there and similarities between The Babtist Bible Association and what Islamic law (shirah) is trying to do? Just a question. Thank you.

I have always been against Country Crossings, from the first moment I heard about it. How smart do you have to be in order to know that 'crime doesn't pay'?? Even more importantly, those of us who 'claim' to be Christians should know better! And I have listened to many a group discuss it, when they didn't think that they had an 'outside' audience and I find their reasonings quite lacking, to the point of no real reasoning whatsoever! And, if you have the audacity to attempt to input into their 'reasonings', the very first defense they offer is the very poorest one on the subject, the story of these 'poor people deprived of their jobs', or the even more preposterous one of adding monies to our coffers! I, for one, am tired of hearing such feeble reasonings to justify 'sin', if I dare say the word, in this immoral and unconscionable society!!I could go on and on, but to what use; people who intend to uphold wrong against right will never listen to reason. What bothers me are the ones who pitiably claim to be Christians and yet support such erroneous claims; but no worry...Christ is never fooled!!My final thoughts...just a question for those 'Christians'...Would you take Christ out there to Country Crossings with you, as you started to leave to go there, if He were personified right there in your home??Last thought, where are the comments on here from the real Christians??? (I know they are few, but....do you still have a backbone, and a 'voice'???

I too, in the beginning thought Country Crossings would be a wonderful business venture for Houston County, but as time went on and all the deceptiveness began to be revealed, I was against it. Thank you for doing all of this research and laying it all out from beginning to end.

A very eloquent and truthful essay on the progression of this local fiasco. I was present in one meeting where the developer portrayed Double-Crossings (a.k.a Country Crossings) as a Branson, Missouri-type development, and will admit my initial support for it. My support quickly evaporated when the casino entered the picture. Having a casino as the sole source of funding the entire project is a poor business model in any case, however the deception from the beginning should cause anyone to question the real intent of this project. While the county commission whined about "lost" jobs at Double-Crossings (people I know quit legitimate employment to work there, a sad fact as well), who was fighting for the 2,500 jobs once at Sony as they dwindled to 300 temporary employees? Who was traveling to Japan to convince Sony there are no better, smarter, harder-working employees in the nation than those here in the Wiregrass? To my knowledge, no one has. This is a great city and county. Let's get our priorities in line!
