'Let the people vote', Mark Culver Now and Then

Mark Culver has been at the center of the storm since the first rumors of Country Crossing began. Over the years Culver has been a lightning rod for controversy, going all the way back to his becoming Chairman, the purchase of the Administrative building, the Movie Gallery Boondoggle, Taylor Plaza, the Port Authority land purchase in Taylor are just some of the things that have caused people to question Culver's ethics, and motives.

The gamblers of Houston County are chanting, "let the people vote", Ronnie Gilley and Mark Culver have both been to Montgomery to carry that message to the Alabama Legislature, as recently as Monday, Chairman Culver said he believes that a referendum is the best way to solve the gambling issue. On April 7th, 2008, during a Monday morning legislative meeting at the Chamber of Commerce, emotions spilled over and a heated conversation between Mark Culver and John Watson took place.
